Stephan F. Miescher is a Professor of History at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is the author of A Dam for Africa: Akosombo Stories from Ghana (Indiana University Press, 2022; winner of the 2023 Sidney M. Edelstein Prize from the Society for the History of Technology) and Making Men in Ghana (Indiana University Press, 2005). He has co-edited eight volumes and special journal issues, among them Modernization as Spectacle in Africa (2014) and Energy Justice in Global Perspective, Media+Environment 4 no. 2 (2022). Together with R. Lane Clark, he made the six-part documentary film, Ghana’s Electric Dreams (2022).
