Abdoulie Jabang is an Assistant Professor of African History at Texas Christian University. His research sits at the intersection of African social and environmental history, analyzing the intricate connection among the environment, statecraft, and social difference along the Gambia River from 1800 to the present. Through an environmental lens, his work offers new insights into the workings of power in West Africa and the diverse ecological experiences of everyday Africans living under African and European rule. His research has been funded by the Social Science Research Council and Michigan State University.
